Utopia Village is an “off the beaten path vacation 'retreat”. It is remote, it is casual, it is friendly, it is beautifully designed and it is adventure set in a natural surroundings. The hotel is built on the edge of an abundant reef, a twenty-minute boat ride from the nearest and only town on the tiny island of Utila. There are no roads at Utopia, no fast food joints and no nightclubs. Utopia’s greatest, natural asset is the house reef in front of the property. Divers will truly appreciate the giant Stag Horn and Elkhorn coral and the waters teaming with colourful Caribbean fish. The goal was to create a dive destination that would offer some pleasant and welcomed surprises…full service dive amenities are available plus four-star meals served at your table, spacious rooms with custom built furniture and nice linens and a spa perfect for a relaxing massage after a long week of diving.

Accommodation at Utopia Village are designed to be an inviting retreat away from home. Restaurant and bars - Passion fruit, lime, basil, lemongrass and wild cilantro…organic ingredients prepared to perfection at Dulce Vida restaurant. The philosophy of creating fresh, simple cuisine with a Latin flair is the inspiration for Dulce Vida’s fine cuisine. Utopia Village features two bars, The Dive Bar and The Library Lounge with an excellent selection of beer, wine, spirits and liquors. The Dive Bar is situated on the beach, the Library Lounge is an indoor haven to be enjoyed on hot lazy days when your body craves air-conditioning and relaxation.

Spa - Guests can choose from a full menu of massages, body scrubs, facials, manicures, pedicures and other therapy treatments, and they can also choose the location of their treatments in their own rooms, on the beach, even under the stars. USpa offers a number of signature spa treatments using nutrient rich flowers and fruits indigenous to Honduras and Utila to create botanical treatments that reflect the flavours of the island.

The Diving

Utila, the smallest of the Bay Islands, offers a wide variety of easily accessible dive sites with varying underwater terrains. Sitting at the edge of the largest barrier reef in the Western Hemisphere, Utila’s waters are teaming with colourful marine life. Utila has over 100 charted dive sites which include sea mounts, shallow fringing reefs and plunging walls that circumnavigate the Cayman Trench.

The shallow fissures with sandy bottoms and beautiful purple coral gardens just off Utopia’s shores will impress shore divers. Utila’s crystal blue waters host over 90% of marine inhabitants found in the Caribbean, including schools of Blue Tangs, Southern Sennetes, and scores of other brilliantly coloured Tropical fish. Everything from a myriad of juvenile reef residents to the larger Whale Shark, Manta Rays, Spotted Eagle Rays, and Moray Eels can be sited.

The North side of Utila is best known for its drop-offs, which are considered deep dives. The upper edge of the wall begins anywhere from 55-85 feet, with each dive site having its own personality and marine growth. Inshore from the drop-offs, excellent medium to shallow coral reefs can be found with diving depths ranging from 20-55 feet which allows both novice and expert divers to enjoy the sites. Utila’s waters also house three wreck sites in varying sizes and depths. With water temperatures averaging 80 degrees or warmer, gentle currents and 100 feet of underwater visibility, Utila will be a dive destination you will never forget.

Dive Centre: U-Dive

Utopia’s on site dive operation, is fully equipped with brand new high-end rental gear and a custom dive boat. Utopia Village is committed to providing a fun and safe diving environment. U

Dive is a PADI Resort Dive Operator with the following amenities:

PRICES INCLUDE: International flights with Continental Airlines from London to Roatan Island via Houston, Air taxi return transfers between Roatan and Uitla island, 1st night in Houston at hotel Ramada Airport, 7 nights accommodation in double room at Utila Village including: Full board, welcome cocktail, coffee, tea, water and fresh juice at breakfast time, snorkelling, sea kayaking, volleyball, billiards, weekly pirate folklore treasure hunt. 10 guided boat dives (2 per day), 1 night dive during the week, unlimited house reef shore dives. Our Opinion

Great resort, excellent service, professional diving centre. Healthy and well protected reefs, reach marine life, interesting for macro, Whale sharks are present year round, but the majority of sighting is between February and May.
