Nungwi has a long wild sandy beach protected from the coral reef and is the ideal place to relax in the shade of a palm tree, under the equatorial sun, swimming in the transparent water of the lagoon in the middle of reef fishes. Low tide in Nungwi allows enjoying the colours and life of the lagoon and does not create problems for boats to exit. It is for sure the best place for divers and non divers. The city of Nungwi offers good activities such as night life, watching the fishermen and the Dhow makers, and a very young and informal atmosphere.

SCUBA DIVING IN ZANZIBAR AND DIVE CENTRE

Diving Ocean diving center is located directly on the beach of the hotel Baobab Beach Bungalow in Nungwi and offers full and half days diving trips by boat, snorkelling trips as well as PADI and ESA dive courses at all levels, from Open Water to Dive Master.
Diving and snorkelling trips are organised with traditional Dhow boats manufactured in Nungwi and with speed boat, to dive sites such as Mnemba island, Hunga Reef, Big Wall, Chakatuni, Leven Banks.

Diving conditions in Zanzibar
Maximal depth for the dives is limited at 30 meters. Average depth is around 20 meters. Water temperature is around 27° C and visibility from 14 to 30 meters according to season. Due the location there are not restrictions caused by tide changes. Recompression chamber is now opened in Zanzibar.
